Throwback (2014) - UK Film Festival Premiere Announced
The much-anticipated independent Australian horror feature Throwback will have its UK premiere at the Bram Stoker International Film Festival in October.
The festival is held each Halloween in Whitby, England, the city Irish writer Bram Stoker used as the setting for his classic novel Dracula. The festival is recognised and reported as one of the best genre festivals anywhere in the world, attracting an average of 5,000 patrons a year from all corners of the globe.
Throwback is the second feature film from Australian writer-director Travis Bain. Filmed in Cairns, North Queensland, the horror/adventure thriller is about two modern-day treasure hunters, a female park ranger and an unhinged ex-cop who encounter a savage Bigfoot-type monster known as a Yowie in the remote jungles of northern Australia. The film stars Shawn Brack, Anthony Ring and genre film legend Vernon Wells (Commando, The Road Warrior).
Bain says he and his team are delighted to have been selected for the prestigious British horror festival.
"I've been watching updates on the Bram Stoker Film Festival with interest and really digging the films they've been choosing, both old and new, so it's an honour to be in such good company. We're really excited that British horror fans will be among the first in the world to enjoy our rumble in the jungle."
Bain says he hopes to announce the location and date for Throwback's world premiere soon.
