About me...Darryl "McPierce" Pierce has been podcasting since 2009. But he's been contributing to podcasts since 2007. In his spare time, he earns money working as a professional software developer on both open source and enterprise-ready software for a large Linux distributor. He also spends some of his time working on furthering his education. He's married (sorry ladies), has three children, and mountain bikes, plays chess, reads comics (not just for the podcast) and technical manuals, and runs, even though he hates it. He also helps coordinate shows for The Zombie Mob Podcast. ReadingMy favorite books include The Stand by Stephen King, Day By Day Armageddon by J. L. Bourne, Fads And Fallacies In The Name Of Science by Martin Gardner, and Why Not A Spider Monkey Jesus? by A. G. Pasquella. I love to read anything, really, but especially enjoy books on science subjects that use new and interesting ways of explaining concepts. One I read recently was The Physics Of Super Heroes by James Kakalios. At the same time I took the class PY 205 "Physics For Engineers And Scientists" and the two together helped make the course more enjoyable. MusicRush. Hands down the best band ever in my opinion. From the very first moment I heard their music I loved what they did musically. Sure, I'm not a big fan of the synthesizer years, but even then they were great. And when they got back to their core with Snakes And Arrows it was a greatness. They're so much of an influence on me that when I play guitar or bass I mostly play Rush songs. I also love The Tragically Hip, Clutch and The Police. And genre-wise I'm very broad, listening and playing everything from Irish traditionally music to Broadway. FilmsI wouldn't even know where to begin here. Probably with Dawn Of The Dead both the 1979 and 2004 versions. Classics, and ones I can pop in and watch any time, anywhere. Believe it or not, another film I can put on and watch is What's Eating Gilbert Grape? I can't put my finger on it but I love that movie. |
